To connect your PC to CMB, you must have a network connection, either by ethernet or modem. Use your telnet program to connect to cmb.biosci.wayne.edu . At login: type your CMB username and password as shown above, pressing enter after each. You will then see: cmb%

If you are using a modem, you can dial up the WSU MichNet 56 kbps line at 313-637-3425. Set your modem to 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, parity none. Use your WSU AccessID and password to authenticate your MichNet connection. Once your PPP connection to MichNet is established, use telnet to connect to CMB as above.

Commands are typed from the UNIX prompt: cmb% . Type help for an index of help. For menus, type: hy . To start the GCG programs, type gcg . To logout from the CMB computer, type exit .

The first time you logon to the system, please change your password. Type passwd and press enter, then follow the instructions. It is a good idea to change your password every few months.

When you have new mail, the system will tell you "you have new mail" when you logon. To read your mail, type pine and press enter. Alternatively, you can use a POPmail program such as Eudora to read or send mail from CMB.

You will receive additional information via email in your GENETICS account. Please read it.
