The Clinical Genetics Clinic at Beaumont Children's Hospital offers our students with the opportunity to see both adult and pediatric patients for a variety of indications. Common reasons for referral including developmental delay, multiple birth defects, and personal and family history of a genetic condition. Our students work with both a genetic counselor and a geneticist to better understand the evaluation and management of these patients.
Our students have the opportunity to work with neurologists and a genetic counselor both as part of the formal internships and specialty internships. Our students participate in the evaluation and management of neuromuscular conditions including the Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic, epilepsy, Tuberous Sclerosis, Neurofibromatosis type 1 and many other genetic conditions with a neurological component.
