Katie earned a BS in Psychology from Michigan State University and a MS in Community Health Education from Eastern Michigan University. Her master’s thesis involved research on males’ knowledge and perceptions of sexually transmitted infections. While at MSU, she completed an internship in the genetic counseling clinic. After earning her BS, she obtained a position as a Clinical Subjects Associate at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center where she worked with an ophthalmic genetic counselor and enrolled patients into a genetic research study on age-related macular degeneration. While completing her masters, she worked as a Health Care Specialist at Planned Parenthood of Michigan and as an Academic Advisor at Eastern Michigan University in the College of Health and Human Services and The Honors College. Katie is honored to be a part of the Wayne State University Genetic Counseling Program.
